Shayilan is a Chinese national from the minority Kazakh. At 27 he has already amassed a 20-7-0 MMA record. Shayilan said his people comes from warriors tribe that likes to fight. Historically they are great warriors on horseback & have a tradition of wrestling that is still very popular. Shayilan train in this form of wrestling since his teenage years and build a career as a wrestler.

What made him transition to MMA since five years ago was when he saw how successful Conor McGregor is. Shayilan began his MMA training at China Top Team in Beijing with the likes of former UFC lightweight Zhang Tiequan, as well as the first male Chinese fighter to break into a top-15 ranking in welterweight Li โ€œThe Leechโ€ Jingliang (18-6), ranked 11, and the first Chinese woman the UFC ever signed in the third-ranked strawweight Yan โ€œFuryโ€ Xiaonan (13-1, one no contest).

He has since the last two years trains at UFC Performance Institute in Shanghai.
