If you are a legit combat sports fan, you should know that Malaysia used to be the leader in the MMA scene in South East Asia. When MMA was still not allowed in Thailand, Malaysia had a vibrant amateur MMA scene lead by MIMMA ( Malaysian Invasion MMA ). It was huge! Well structured & run professionally. It was a year long event that had selection in regions across Malaysia, selected fighters fought in a tournament & culminating in a grand finale in Kuala Lumpur.
It was a birthplace & brewing ground for many Malaysian fighters. It also gave rise to a thriving business in the martial arts gym all over Malaysia. Started in 2013 it lasted 5 seasons till 2018. After MIMMA, the MMA scene in Malaysia seems to slow down, overtaken by huge development in Thailand, Philippines & Indonesia.
After MIMMA ended, one of the leading personalities from MIMMA, the charismatic emcee & showman extraordinaire – Jon Nutt, focus on his own promotion – FMD ( Full Metal Dojo ) based in Thailand. Initially also a MMA promotion, but eventually as Jon became more & more creative & wanted to build unique product, FMD evolved into Fight Circus.
Fight Circus emphasizes a unique blend of local culture and international talent, often featuring fighters from various backgrounds and styles. Fight Circus events are characterized by a lively atmosphere, showcasing not only the competitive spirit of combat sports but also elements of entertainment, such as music and fan interaction.
Aside from legit combat sports such as MMA, Boxing, Muaythai, Bare-nuckle boxing the entertainment part is truly what makes it stands out & electrifying. Only in Fight Circus you can find, pillow fights, 2 on 1 fight, dwarf vs giant, Indian leg wrestling, Slap match, that’s only naming a few.
Come this 19 OCT, Jon is bringing FMD – Fight Circus to Kuala Lumpur. Fight Circus is the greatest combat sports entertainment in the planet, as Jon like to say.
This event in Kuala Lumpur will be the 11th edition for Fight Circus. This is a sort of MIMMA reunion, fight entertainment & Halloween party all merged as one, happening in PITT Club KL.
Many Malaysian combat sports name & personalities is slated to be there. Some of the fighters making an appearance are Malaysia 1st Female Pro MMA fighter Ann Osman, Malaysia former pro MMA top talent & model Peter Davis, Former MIMMA heavyweight Champion Darren Low, Former MIMMA Middle weight Champion Mirage Khan, former UFC fighter Brian Ebersole just to name a few.
Among the personalities are, man of many talent, former emcee, co-host of MIMMA, actor, director & producer Rashid Salleh will again hog the mic together with Jon, but Jon has an extra duty that night, as he himself will step in the cage in a heavyweight bout.
